Fund New Mexico's environment
With this year's budget extremely tight, funding for New Mexico's environment is in jeopardy. Please call the legislative switchboard (986-4316) and ask for the following members of leadership that control the pocketbooks and tell them to support the following budget items: Rep. Kiki Saavedra (Chair, House Appropriations)-Albuquerque Rep. Lucky Varela (Vice Chair, House Appropriations)- Santa Fe Rep. Edward SAndoval (Chair, House Tax and Revenue)-Albuquerque Rep. Roberto Gonzales (Vice Chair, House Tax and Revenue)- Taos Sen. John Arthur Smith (Chair, Senate Finance)-Deming Sen. Carlos Cisneros (Vice Chair, Senate Finance)-Questa Here's a sample message you could leave, "Hi, my name is ______ and I'm from ______. Please support funding protections for New Mexico's environment. Please support: $2 million for low-income weatherization, $15 million for the Clean Energy and Energy Innovation fund, $5 million for greening our public schools, $7million for greening higher education buildings, $3 million to improve energy efficiency in state buildings, $760,000 for solar and energy efficiency projects at state parks, $100,000 for the Save Smart energy conservation building proram, $4 million for the Strategic Water Reserve, $5 million for the River Ecosystem Restoration Initiative and $3.5 million for Land and Wildlife projects."
