After 30 intense days of advocacy, hundreds of calls and
emails into decision maker's offices and close partnership with our allies, the
2008 legislative session ended with a bang on Thursday.
Thanks to your support
and action, we were able to block environmental rollbacks and win key successes
for New Mexico’s environment. See the
end of this email for a quick rundown of some of the biggest victories.
These achievements would not have been possible without the
help of environmental champions in the House and Senate.
Senators Cisco McSorley, Cynthia Nava, John Grubesic and
Dede Feldman pulled out all the stops to prevent a Senate floor vote on House
Bill 276 in the final hours of the session, corporate give-away legislation
that would have authorized a $629 million bond for sprawling fringe development
in Albuquerque.
