FREE Screening of the Oscar Nominated Documentary: Gasland

Environment New Mexico

Can you light your water on fire? This is a real concern for residents across the country whose water has been contaminated by hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” a dangerous method of natural gas extraction. Companies are already fracking in New Mexico and are rapidly looking to expand the practice. Join us for a screening of Gasland  on Tuesday, June 21st. Attendees will learn about the dangers associated with fracking and how New Mexico’s drinking water is at risk.

Don’t miss this eye-opening and timely documentary on the gas industry’s irresponsibility, government inaction and the people whose lives have been changed forever. The images of people lighting their tap water on fire are unforgettable, and the rivers that bubble with natural gas are truly frightening. What’s worse, the people in the film are getting sick and it seems no one is able to help. Attend this screening of Gasland and learn what you can do to save our water from fracking.

On Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m., join us for a screening of Gasland at the Center for Contemporary Arts (1050 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, 87505) in Santa Fe.  After the event, we will have a panel discussion that will feature the Executive Director of Food & Water Watch, Wenonah Hauter who will discuss national efforts to ban fracking. Come early to chat with us and learn what you can do to make a difference.
